Teen Nation does more than offer a haven after school—it engages teens in every aspect. Teen Nation gives our advanced teens an opportunity to learn new skills, the training required to perform in today’s competitive job market, improve grades, develop mentorships, and prepare for higher education and successful career paths.
The goal of Teen Nation Media Bootcamp is for every teen involved to become a better communicator by learning how to blend several types of methods in a concise message. This blend is a mix of traditional media (research, writing, and reporting) and new media (digital, editing, photography, lighting, audio, and video).
Radio broadcasting gives teens a basic understanding of radio broadcasting. Programming, production, promotions, and sales are the departments covered in this program. Teens also execute a one-hour on-air shift on Spreaker.
TV broadcasting gives teens a basic understanding of television broadcasting and programming via our Teen News Magazine TV Show. Teens write, produce, and direct content and public service announcements.
The photography team gives teens a basic understanding of photography and the power of capturing moments of everyday life. Teens learn how to approach photography by carefully researching and selecting topics, detailing the tasks of an assignment, and using imagination to visually alter the subject towards the goals of consistency and clarity.
Transformation Techniques builds massive confidence in teens by teaching key techniques in public speaking. This program is interactive and serves as an intensive training ground where teens learn life skills, conflict resolution, time management, and we also provide counseling/therapy referrals.
Our sports and fitness program “Fitness in the Key of Life” is designed to provide alternatives to teens who participate in organized sports. Teens are taught teamwork, good sportsmanship, game interviews, exercise, and nutrition.
